Two accused who snatched the gold chain from a woman who was out on a morning walk on the dividing road of Sector-21/22, Chandigarh, were arrested late night by Thana-19 police. The gold chain, weighing about 1 tola, snatched from the arrested accused has also been recovered. Both the accused have already been involved in many criminal cases. The accused have been arrested by a team formed under the leadership of Inspector Sarita Roy, in-charge of Thana-19.
In a complaint to the police, Palvinder Chaudhary, a resident of Sector-22, said that she had gone out for a morning walk with her husband Ashwani Kumar at around 6 am. When they reached the dividing road of Sector-21/22, two youths riding a bike coming at high speed from the opposite direction from ISBT-17 snatched her gold chain and fled.
Interrogation and CCTV cameras checked
After the snatching incident, the police checked all the CCTV cameras installed around the crime scene in search of the accused and all the people present nearby were also questioned, which helped the police a lot. After which the police came to know the location of the accused that they were in Mouli Jagra, so the police team led by Inspector Sarita Roy raided Mouli Jagra and arrested both the accused.
7 criminal cases are registered against accused Rohit alias Gulli, resident of Ram Darbar Phase-1 and 2 cases are registered against Vijay, resident of Vikas Nagar, Mouli Jagra.
