The team of Punjab Government’s Police and Excise Department raided several places in Mohali on Wednesday and Thursday night. During this, the focus was on hotels and dhabas, where liquor sold in Chandigarh was confiscated. The police has started its investigation after taking possession. A dhaba operator was found doing home delivery of liquor after 12 o’clock in the night.
Let us tell you that this action has been taken after the deaths due to alcohol in Majitha, Amritsar. During this, Excise Commissioner Diwan Chand Sharma and Excise Commissioner himself came to the field. Also, this checking campaign was carried out at night. He told that more than two hundred liquor bottles have been seized.
Officials said that where the raid was conducted, liquor was kept in the generator kept outside and was supplied after 12 o’clock in the night. Officials said that appropriate action will be taken on this.
550 liquor boxes recovered
Earlier, Punjab Police had seized a truck full of liquor at a check post in Hadensara of Laldu area. 550 liquor bottles were recovered from it. This liquor was made in Chandigarh, which was going to Haryana and other states for supply. During this, the truck driver and conductor were caught. Both were residents of Rajasthan. Earlier, Patiala Police had seized 600 liters of methanol from Shambhu.
