The nationwide civil security exercise ‘Operation Shield’ to be organized by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India on May 29, i.e. today, has been postponed due to administrative reasons. Now on May 29, neither there will be any blackout nor mock drill will be organized. These orders have been issued by the Chandigarh Administration. Now as per the instructions received from the government, this exercise has been postponed for the time being. The new date will be announced later.
It is known that Chandigarh was also included in this exercise, where blackout was to be done by shutting down electricity in Kishangarh and IT Park area from 8:00 to 8:10 pm.
Apart from this, a hypothetical situation of enemy drone attack was to be created through a mock drill in the Community Center of Sector-47, in which preparations were being made like taking the citizens to a safe place, arranging blood and deployment of medical teams.
Civil Defense Volunteers were to participate
A high-level meeting was also held in this regard under the chairmanship of UT Chief Secretary Rajiv Verma, in which IGP R.K. Singh and other senior officers were present. Civil Defence Volunteers, Home Guards, NCC, NSS and other organisations were to participate in this exercise.
