Punjab leads in smart phone usage: Third in the country, urban women outpace men

Women of Punjab have left men behind in the use of smart phones. 96.7 percent women in the state are using smart phones, while 94 percent men are using smart phones. In villages also, 91.2 percent women are using smart phones.

According to the latest survey report of the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation, women of Punjab are at third place in the country in the use of smart phones. This survey was conducted to find out which type of mobile is being used more by men and women in cities and villages.

The ministry has conducted this survey on women aged 15 to 29 years who have used smart phones in the last three months. Goa is at the top in the use of smart phones among urban women, where 100 percent women are using smart phones. Manipur is at second place with 97.9 percent. Among the Union Territories, Puducherry, Lakshadweep and Ladakh are at the top with 100 percent. If we talk about both urban and rural areas, then 93.2% women are using smart phones. Only 2.9% women are using ordinary mobile phones.

93.7% women have smart phones

93.7% women in the state have smart phones. This includes 98.5% urban and 91% rural women. Similarly, most women in villages have ordinary mobile phones, whose percentage is 5.3. In cities, only 0.7% women have ordinary mobile phones.

Rural women are using the internet more

According to the report, 95% women of Punjab definitely use the internet once a day. While 96.4% women in villages are using the internet once a day, the percentage of urban women is 92.5%. Similarly, 4.9% women are using the internet once a week. In this, the percentage of urban women is 7.3% and that of rural women is 3.6%. This data has been collected according to the frequency of internet use during the last three months.

26.8% people in villages are shopping online

According to the survey conducted during the last one month, 26.8% people in villages are shopping online. 11.4% people are ordering food items, while 73.9% people are ordering non-food items.

Disadvantages of excessive use of smart phone

– Using smartphone for late at night can cause insomnia.

– There may be problems of eye irritation and fatigue.

– Mental health problems like anxiety and depression can increase.

– Using the phone for a long time affects memory.
