Senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi is coming on a Haryana tour on Wednesday, June 4, i.e. tomorrow. He will visit the Chandigarh office of the state committee for the first time. Preparations and organisational meetings are going on for his visit to Haryana, while on the other hand, Congress leaders in Haryana are again fuelling factionalism by making statements against each other.
The latest statement has come from MLA Kuldeep Vats from Badli seat of Jhajjar district. Kuldeep Vats is considered a supporter of the Hooda faction in the Congress. Kuldeep Vats has demanded from Rahul Gandhi that he should come to Haryana and take tough decisions.
At this time, there is a need to take tough decisions in Haryana Congress. He said that not only strict action should be taken against those leaders who are playing the role of Jaichand while staying within the party, but they should also be shown the way out of the party.
At the same time, former MLA Shamsher Gogi, a supporter of Selja, said that Congress needs such a leadership that thinks for the party and not for the family. Gogi said that Congress has never moved one way, it can move only by taking everyone along.
Selja had said that she was silent for the party in the assembly elections
All India Congress Committee general secretary and MP Kumari Selja had given a statement in Hisar 3 days ago that my silence in the assembly elections was only for the benefit of the party. I did not want to say anything about what happened to me at that time.
If I had said anything in the middle of the election, it would have harmed the party. Everyone knows what happened to me? How the election was fought. The party is looking into such matters. Kumari Selja even said that what happened to Kiran Chaudhary and her daughter in the Congress was not right. Some leaders in the party put their interests above the party, which is not right. After this statement of Selja, she has come under the target of the leaders of the Hooda faction.
Factionalism was also seen in front of Rahul Gandhi in the assembly elections
Factionalism was openly exposed in front of Rahul Gandhi in Haryana Congress. During the campaign in the assembly elections, the leaders were seen fighting in front of each other on the stage itself. Rahul Gandhi indicated to end factionalism by making Selja and Hooda shake hands in Narayangarh of Ambala, but factionalism increased instead of decreasing.
After this, Rahul Gandhi’s pain came to the fore after the defeat of Congress in Haryana. After the defeat in Haryana elections, Rahul Gandhi called a review meeting of Congress in Delhi. In this meeting held at Mallikarjun Kharge’s house, Rahul Gandhi said that the reason for losing the election is that the interests of the leaders of Haryana had become more important than the party’s interest.
Got only 0.85% less votes in Haryana, but 11 seats less than BJP
How factionalism ruined the Congress’ chances can be known from the fact that the difference between the votes of Congress and BJP in the assembly was only 0.85%. BJP got 39.94% votes and Congress got 39.09% votes.
However, in terms of seats, Congress was left with 37 seats as compared to BJP’s 48.
When we discussed this, it was found that the whole game was spoiled due to internal conflict. Compared to 2019, there was a vote swing of 3.45% in favor of BJP while it was 11.01% in favor of Congress.
