Punjab’s Mohali Police has arrested a vicious accused involved in many cases including murder, rape, drug trafficking after an encounter on Sunday night. The accused has been shot in the leg. During this, about 10 rounds of firing took place from both sides.
The accused has been identified as Sandeep Kumar. The police was looking for him since May 26, but he used to escape by dodging the police every time.
SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans has given this information. The accused has been admitted to the Civil Hospital of Phase-6. No policeman has been injured in this incident.
He had come to supply drugs, then the police surrounded him
The SSP said that a murder took place in Mohali Phase-1 on May 26. When the police started investigating it, it was found that two people, Bablu and Sandeep, were involved in this case. During this time Bablu was driving the bike, while Sandeep was sitting behind. Sandeep had fired the shot. After this both of them fled.
Bablu was arrested by the police from Badaun, UP two-three days ago. Since then, the police was looking for Sandeep. The accused was hiding in Lakhnaur area for three days, but every time he used to escape by dodging the police.
As soon as he came to supply drugs in Lakhnaur, the CIA Mohali team tried to arrest him. But the accused fired once and tried to run back. After this, the CIA team fired in the air. The accused then fired two more in the air. In response to this, the police took action, in which the accused was shot in the leg.
Eight cases including rape and murder
About eight FIRs are registered against the accused, which include cases of murder, kidnapping, drug smuggling and assault. On May 26, he committed another murder in Mohali area. A case is also registered against him under rape and POCSO Act. He is also a wanted criminal of Himachal Police.
Weapons are a challenge for the police
The weapon of the murder in Mohali has not been recovered yet. The police is also trying to find out where he was getting the weapons from. It is also being investigated with whom he was staying.
Today the police have recovered another weapon from the accused, while the earlier weapon has not been recovered yet.
