To prevent traffic jams and road accidents in Chandigarh, the traffic police has now adopted a new method. High-tech HD cameras will be installed at the 5 most crowded intersections of the city. These cameras will run on AI (Artificial Intelligence) technology. This will tell where the traffic is more, at what time the jam occurs and who was at fault in the accident.
The cameras will identify every vehicle – be it a bike, car or truck. After this, it will be seen which vehicle is creating how much traffic. On this basis, the traffic system will be improved.
Whose fault will be identified
By using this new AI technology, it will be possible to find out which driver is at fault in any road accident and it will also help in getting relief from traffic jams. According to police officials, high-definition (HD) CCTV cameras equipped with AI technology will be installed at these five main intersections, which will identify all types of vehicles and measure the PCU load in real time. A traffic police official said that its purpose is to prepare accurate and concrete solutions for traffic improvement. Due to which the mistake of any driver in breaking the traffic rules can be identified.
These 5 intersections are the most crowded…..
1. Tribune Chowk (Junction No. 38)
This place connects Mohali, Panchkula and Industrial Area.Problem: There is always a jam due to heavy trucks and trailers.Solution: The time for entry of heavy vehicles will be fixed, a flyover or underpass will be built.
2. Hallomajra Light Point
Many routes go from here to Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh.Problem: There is always a danger for pedestrians and cyclists.Solution: Alternative routes will be made, footpaths will be improved.
3. Khudda Lahora-Khuda Jasso Road
This route goes from PGI to the villages.Problem: The road is narrow, shops are built on the way and it gets flooded in the rain.Solution: Encroachment will be removed, footpaths and U-turn facilities will be made.
4. Housing Board Chowk (Manimajra)
Vehicles coming and going from Himachal and Haryana pass through here.Problem: Buses stop in the middle of the road, which stops the traffic.Solution: An underpass will be built connecting Panchkula-Manimajra.
5. Kajheri Chowk (Sector 52/53 and 42/43)
ISBT-43, court and market are nearby, so there is always traffic.Problem: Heavy vehicles also pass through this route but there is no separate route for them.Solution: A separate time will be fixed for heavy vehicles, the route will be redesigned.
