Bathinda. A filmy colour has come to the fore in an incident of firing. There is a tea stall near Gate No. 2 of Thermal Colony of the city. On the morning of June 16, indiscriminate firing was done on a person drinking tea at the stall.
One bullet hit his chest and one in his leg. On the first day, the police had said that the reason for the firing was enmity, but the three arrested attackers told during interrogation that they had come to kill the Hindu leader, but by mistake they abused the shopkeeper Lalit Chhabra who resembled the one in the photo and had come to drink tea.
Investigation revealed that this incident was done at the behest of a Khalistani leader sitting in Canada. According to police sources, Khalistani elements sitting abroad had provided the photo of the Hindu leader to the three attackers, on the basis of which they opened fire on a person resembling him sitting at the tea stall after his morning walk.
The three attackers had reached the stall on two motorcycles and used modern foreign weapons in this attack. When the attackers fled after firing at Lalit Chhabra, their fourth companion called and informed that they had fired at someone else instead of the Hindu leader.
It is said that the Hindu leader whom the attackers wanted to kill also lives in the area around Thermal Colony and often comes to the tea stall, but on the day of the incident, Lalit Chhabra, who looked like him, was sitting at the tea stall instead. The attackers shot him mistaking him to be the Hindu leader.
