This is a big relief news for the people and tourists of Jammu and Kashmir. The central government has approved two new four-lane roads in the state. The construction of these roads will not only make the journey easier and faster, but will also promote tourism and security.
Four-lane road from Samba to Udhampur
The first project is to build a 43 km long four-lane road from Samba to Udhampur. About Rs 7418 crore will be spent on this and a target has been set to complete it in three years.
With the construction of this road, the journey from Pathankot to Udhampur will be reduced by half. At present, this route takes 4-5 hours, but with the new road, this distance can be covered in just 2 hours. With this, those going towards Srinagar will not need to take a detour towards Jammu, which will also promote tourism. This road is being built under the Bharatmala Project. Four lane road from Kathua to Doda
The second major project is to build a four lane road from Kathua to Doda. This road will reach Doda via Kathua-Basohli-Bani-Bhaderwah. The total cost will be around Rs 28,679 crore. This road will start from Lakhanpur and connect to National Highway-44. Currently, this road is working as a state highway, but after becoming a four lane, its condition and facilities will improve.
Double lane road from Bhaderwah to Chamba
Apart from this, a 130 km long double lane road will also be built from Bhaderwah to Chamba in Himachal Pradesh. The cost of this project is Rs 6913 crore and it will be built by NHAI (National Highway Authority of India).
Work will start soon
According to NHAI officials, the detailed project report (DPR) of all these roads has been prepared and the budget has also been approved. The state government has not raised any objection to the construction, so work on these projects is expected to start soon.
With the construction of these roads, the travel of people in Jammu and Kashmir will be fast, safe and comfortable. Along with this, the movement of army and security forces will also be easy and tourism will be promoted.
