A case of arrest of PSPCL engineer has come to light. As part of the ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Tuesday arrested Junior Engineer Balwinder Singh posted in PSPCL, Jalalabad (West), District Fazilka, on charges of taking a bribe of Rs 7000. Giving this information here today, a spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau said that the accused had demanded bribe from the complainant Salwinder Singh, resident of village Jamalgarh, Tehsil Jalalabad, District Fazilka.
The spokesperson said that the complainant alleged that the said accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 in lieu of installing a separate transformer for the motor on his land. During investigation, it was found that the said junior engineer had demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 and had taken Rs 3000 as bribe as the first installment and later demanded the remaining bribe of Rs 7000 for this work.
The complainant had recorded the conversation regarding the demand of bribe of Rs 7000. Based on the investigation, a case has been registered against the accused junior engineer under the Prevention of Corruption Act. He will be produced before the competent court today and further investigation in the case is underway.
