Following the orders issued by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Harjinder Singh, under the supervision of Duty Magistrate Gurvinder Singh, District Town Planner Ritika Arora, Assistant Town Planner Puneet Digra, Assistant Town Planner Prabhjot Singh, Junior Engineer Dinesh Kumar and District Administration/Regulatory Team today took major action and demolished illegal colonies built in violation of PAPR Act 1995 in villages Sekhupura and Kalanaur. Giving information in this regard, Additional Deputy Commissioner (J) Harjinder Singh said that action has been taken to demolish the illegal colonies developed in villages Sekhupura and Kalanaur by issuing notice under PAPR Act-1995, because the owners of illegal colonies had flouted government rules without caring about the instructions of the government. He also clarified that as per the amendment 2024 in PAPR Act-1995, a person who cuts an illegal colony will be punished with 5 to 10 years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs 25 lakh to Rs 5 crore. Can be imposed. He said that apart from this, the Regulatory Wing is inspecting the illegal colonies and constructions being developed in District Gurdaspur from time to time and is getting the work stopped by issuing notices under the relevant Act and the concerned police station officer is being asked to take further legal action.
