Due to increased inflow of water in Pong Dam, the water level has increased rapidly in the last 24 hours. Dam management had to release 57,000 cusecs of water in Beas river to control the water level. At 7 pm, the inflow of water in Pong Dam lake was recorded as 83 thousand 371 cusecs and the water level of the dam was recorded as 1377.17 feet. 18849 cusecs of water from Pong Dam was released by turbines and 39238 cusecs of water from spillway gates, a total of 57087 cusecs of water was released into Shah Canal Barrage. 45 thousand 362 cusecs of water is being released into Beas river and 11500 cusecs of water into Mukerian Hydal Canal from Shah Canal Barrage. Due to the release of a large amount of water from the Shah Canal Barrage, the farmers of the villages located on the banks of the Beas River are on the verge of destroying their sugarcane and paddy crops as they have got flooded. When the team of Punjab Kesari visited the Beas River, it was found that the administration has issued a warning to the people to be cautious and not to go near the river. At the same time, people are catching wood from the Beas River and the Mukerian Hydel Canal without caring for their lives to catch the logs coming floating in the flow of water.
