The terror of thieves continues in the western area of Jalandhar. The situation has become such that now thieves have started targeting several shops in a day. The police leave after assuring the victims of action. People are now very upset with the continuous incidents of theft. The latest case has come to light in Ghas Mandi area, where thieves targeted three shops.
Giving information about the case, shopkeeper Narendra told that he had closed the shop at 11 pm but today at 6 am he got a call that the shutters of his shop were broken. After which when he came to the shop, he saw that the thieves had fled with Rs 15 cash, phone accessories and other items from the safe. The shopkeeper told that his shop has been robbed earlier as well but now he is upset due to the theft happening for the second time. It is alleged that the police reached the spot more than an hour after giving information about the incident. The shopkeeper told that he works as a money transfer agent on Kala Singha Road. The thieves targeted his shop by breaking the locks of his shop and two other shops. The thieves escaped with goods and cash from Rohit Fashion Gallery and Nanda Chicken Store. The thieves also broke the CCTV cameras.
Accusing the police, he said that the police is limited to only setting up check posts and issuing challans, no action is being taken against the thieves. The victim said that the police does not listen to anyone. The shopkeeper told that incidents of theft are reported daily in the western area. Another shopkeeper told that he got information about the locks of the shop being broken at 3 am. When he reached the spot, he saw that the thieves had escaped with an LED, phone and Rs 2000 cash. The police was informed about the incident at 6:30 am, but the police reached the spot at 8:30 am. The shopkeeper says that the police takes formal action during the blockade in the area and leaves. Shopkeepers do not get any relief from the police blockade.
