The education department transfers teachers and non-teaching staff every year. Under this process, a few days ago, teaching and non-teaching staff have been transferred in the schools of Punjab. The department has issued orders directing the teachers working on deputation (temporary arrangement) to return to their original schools, due to which hundreds of teachers working on deputation have been disappointed.
According to the information, some teachers posted in border areas had got deputation done a few months ago through political reach. Such teachers used to take their salary from the original school in the border area but used to do duty in the school of deputation. Now according to the new order of the department, if a new teacher of any subject comes to a school through transfer, then the teacher working on deputation in that school will have to immediately report to his original school and his deputation will be considered cancelled. Apart from this, the teachers who are already on deputation and have been transferred to some other school, their deputation will also be considered cancelled. The department has ordered the concerned DDO to immediately release the teachers who have gone on deputation.
Will action be taken against DDO?
The education department has clarified that strict action will be taken against the DDO who does not follow the orders. It is being told that the education secretary has taken a very strict stand in this matter. Many DDOs and principals are delaying in releasing their favorite teachers. On the other hand, schools in the border area are already facing a huge shortage of teachers and now after the transfers, many teachers from there have joined duty in non-border areas.
