After years of waiting, the Halwara Airport project has finally been completed. This claim was made by Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain during a site visit on Tuesday. He was accompanied by officials from the Public Works Department (PWD), Public Health, Powercom, Drainage Department, NHAI, and Iju Singh, a representative of the construction company, Kabir Infra.
During this visit, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the work done on the terminal building, apron, parking area, taxiway, operations area, and the interior of the Air Force Station. Based on the reports provided by the officials, the Deputy Commissioner claimed the completion of the Halwara Airport project. Regarding the handover to the Airport Authority of India, the process has also begun. The Deputy Commissioner has stated that a letter will be sent to the Civil Aviation Department for this purpose.
Suspense Remains Regarding Flight Resumption
Even though the Deputy Commissioner… The government has officially confirmed the completion of the Halwara Airport project and the initiation of the handover process to the Airport Authority of India, but suspense remains over the resumption of scheduled flights. Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora, who regularly follows up on the project’s completion, recently stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would inaugurate the airport, but Union Minister Ravneet Bittu claimed that no schedule had been released by the Prime Minister’s Office.
Even though Bittu met with Airport Authority of India officials a few days ago to review the project’s progress, neither the central nor the state government has provided any clarity on the resumption of flights.
