On October 8th, senior officials from the Punjab government and the PowerCom department will dedicate a new 66kV power plant, costing ₹25 crore, to 2,609 yards of land adjacent to the spinach market at the wholesale vegetable market on Bahadur Road in the industrial city. PowerCom has purchased the land for this project from the Punjab Mandi Board.
The power plant being installed by the Punjab State Power Corporation in the area will significantly benefit the readymade garments and textile industries in several areas, especially those in Bahadur Road, Kali Sadak, Sekhewal, Shivpuri, and Noorwala. It is also expected to alleviate the power shortages in dozens of residential areas. To establish a major power plant project in the Sabzi Mandi complex, senior officials from the Punjab State Power Corporation and teams from the Civil Department are regularly visiting the site to closely monitor all work and ensure the project is completed within the stipulated time.
Consequently, Chaudhary Madan Lal Bagga, MLA from the North Assembly Constituency, will dedicate two new lines, the 11 kV Salem Tabri and 11 kV Pritam Nagar feeders, from the 66 kV GT Road grid to the power plant located in Cantonment Mohalla, under the City West Division of the Punjab State Power Corporation, to further improve power supply to all areas falling under the North Assembly Constituency. Meanwhile, Ashok Parashar Pappi, MLA from the Central Assembly Constituency, will also flag off a new power plant in the Millerganj area.
