It sounds strange, doesn’t it? But now it’s true! This is now possible with the UPI Circle feature of the government’s digital payment app, BHIM UPI. This feature allows users to make payments even without a balance in their account. Let’s understand how it works.
What is the UPI Circle feature?
UPI Circle is a new feature that allows you to allow trusted people, such as family members or friends, to make transactions from your UPI account. You can decide the amount they can transact up to, or whether your approval will be required for each transaction.
The advantage of this feature is that: others will not see your bank account details.
You will have complete control.
Digital payments will become easier for those who don’t have a bank account or don’t use UPI.
This feature is especially useful for the elderly and other family members.
How to activate UPI Circle?
This feature is available in the BHIM UPI app. The process to activate it is very simple:
Open the BHIM app and log in with your registered mobile number.
You’ll see a new option called “UPI Circle” on the home screen or menu; tap it.
Now click “Add Family/Friend.”
Add the person by using their phone number, UPI ID, or scanning a QR code.
Now select the access type:
Set Limit: Here, you’ll set the amount the other person can transact.
Approval Required: Every transaction will be completed with your approval.
If you selected “Set Limit,” select the amount limit, time period, and bank account.
Finally, confirm with your UPI PIN.
That’s it! The person will now be added to your UPI circle and will be able to make UPI transactions under the terms and conditions you set.
