Punjab Food and Civil Supplies Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak has stated that the quality of the paddy crop arriving in the mandis is good, and farmers are being paid within 24 hours of purchase.
After reviewing paddy procurement in various mandis today, Lal Chand Kataruchak said that farmers have been instructed to bring their crops to the mandis after completely drying them. He added that despite the damage caused by the floods, farmers’ morale remains high. So far, 1.1 million metric tons of paddy has arrived in the mandis. He added that procurement agencies are fully implementing the guidelines issued by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann regarding crop procurement. He said that even if farmers bring their paddy to the mandis a day late, it must be completely dry.
He added that a limit for crop procurement is being issued simultaneously by the Reserve Bank. He said that action will also be taken against the officials who violate the government guidelines. On this occasion, he himself saw the quality of paddy and expressed satisfaction over it.
