Senior officers of the Commissionerate Police were fully active in view of the Diwali festival. Today, in the presence of police officers, the city was sealed and a large-scale checking campaign was carried out.
DCP Operations Naresh Dogra, ADCP Operations Vineet Hatawat, ADCP Bharat Masih, ACP Central Amandeep Singh, ACP Special Branch Pankaj Sharma, SHO Rama Mandi Majinder Singh conducted special checking in the city, checking several vehicles and questioning suspicious people. Police officers even conducted the checking of vehicles in their presence. DCP Naresh Dogra stated that, following the orders of Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur, the Commissionerate Police is working with alertness. Furthermore, several temporary illegal encroachments near Bhagwan Valmiki Chowk, which were causing traffic jams, were removed by the DCP. At Naresh Dogra’s request, the police from Station 4 immediately removed the encroachments, ensuring that the public would not be inconvenienced by traffic jams.
DCP Naresh Dogra stated that those occupying the roads would not be spared under any circumstances. He added that in view of the Diwali festive atmosphere, the police have tightened security at all levels in the markets. Security vigilance has been increased throughout the city so that people can enjoy the festivities with confidence. According to the police, to maintain law and order during the festivals, the police have arranged for 24-hour patrolling. Everyone from senior officers to ACPs, Inspectors, and beat staff have been deployed on the roads. These patrol teams will also be accompanied by Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel.
