The Punjab government has brought relief to the elderly. A sum of ₹2400.70 crore has already been released under the old-age pension scheme during the current financial year.
Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur stated that more than 23 lakh beneficiaries are regularly receiving pensions under this scheme. The government has allocated a budget of ₹4100 crore for this scheme in the current financial year.
Dr. Baljit Kaur said that the government is committed to the respect, security, and well-being of every elderly person. She added that this pension scheme is not just financial assistance but also a symbol of the government’s respect and responsibility towards the elderly.
