The Excise Department has ordered the closure of 16 liquor shops in the city. This order was issued due to the non-payment of license fees by these shops. These liquor shops are reportedly linked to the family of a Punjab-based liquor businessman, but the license fees for these shops had not been paid.
Consequently, the Excise Department issued orders to close these shops late Monday evening. According to the Excise Department, these firms that failed to pay the license fees will be blacklisted to prevent them from participating in future tender processes.
