The city of Bhogpur, located on the Jalandhar-Jammu National Highway, has been grappling with a severe traffic problem for a long time. Residents are frustrated by the daily traffic jams, but the police and civil administration seem completely unaware of this issue. It should be noted that this problem could become even more serious when the sugar mill starts operating and sugarcane trolleys begin using the road. The police and civil administration should address this issue promptly.
The main reason for the daily traffic jams in Bhogpur is the alleged illegal parking of vehicles on both sides of the four-lane National Highway. As a result, only two lanes of the four-lane highway are available for traffic, while the other two lanes are being used for parking.
It is noteworthy that the vehicles parked on the National Highway remain there all day, causing long traffic jams in the city. Furthermore, no police officer is seen anywhere attempting to manage the traffic flow.
People stuck in the traffic jams constantly criticize the administration for their inaction. Often, ambulances carrying critically ill patients also get stuck in these traffic jams. The police and civil administration should take immediate steps to resolve the city’s traffic problem so that the general public can be relieved of this serious issue.
