The operation was conducted under the leadership of SSP Sandeep Malik, along with the guidance of SP (Investigation) Parminder Singh and DSP City Dev Dutt. SI Kiran Singh, in-charge of City Police Station Hoshiarpur, and his team played a key role in the operation. The main accused has been identified as Rajinder Singh Parmar, son of Didar Singh, resident of House No. 378, Ward No. 14, near Narad Hospital, Hoshiarpur. He is accused of creating a fake Facebook ID and tarnishing the image of the Hoshiarpur MLA.
On November 15th, the police arrested the accused, Rajinder Parmar, after questioning him. Today, the police obtained a two-day remand from the court to gather more information about the creation of the fake ID, the postings, and potential accomplices. According to officials, the investigation is ongoing and more important facts may emerge in the coming days.
It is noteworthy that according to FIR No. 11/2025 (October 10, 2025) registered at the Cyber Crime Police Station, Hoshiarpur district, complainant Dheeraj Sharma alias Sunny, a resident of Hari Nagar, informed the police that an unknown person had created fake Facebook IDs using the names ‘Raja Thakur’ and ‘Vijay Dadwal’ and targeted his uncle Rajeshwar Dayal alias Babbi, MLA Bram Shankar Jimpa, and Bindu Sharma. The accused attempted to tarnish their political image by posting derogatory comments, obscene posts, and sharing edited, objectionable photos.
Sections 338, 336(3), 336(4), 340(2), 356(2), 351(2) of the IPC and sections 340(2), 356(2), 351(2) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) have been invoked in the case.
