In light of the seriousness of air pollution, as directed by the Honorable Health Minister of Punjab, Dr. Balbir Singh Ji, Civil Surgeon Dr. Sanjay Kamra appealed to the public to be vigilant and take necessary precautions, stressing that a clean and hygienic environment is crucial for building a healthy society.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Sanjay Kamra explained that air pollution adversely affects the health of young children, pregnant women, the elderly over 60, and those suffering from diabetes, respiratory, asthma, and heart diseases. Air pollution can cause problems such as coughing, shortness of breath, colds, flu, redness in the eyes, itching, and anxiety. Therefore, young children, the elderly, pregnant women, and those suffering from chronic illnesses should avoid outdoor activities. If any problems arise, seek immediate medical attention.
The Civil Surgeon said that during air pollution, outdoor activities should be avoided, especially in the morning and evening. Masks should be used when going out and clothes that cover the entire body should be worn. A balanced diet should be consumed. To reduce air pollution, manual work should be given priority over machinery. Petrol-diesel driven two-wheelers and four-wheelers should be used as little as possible. Bicycles should be used as much as possible. Stubble should not be burnt and as many trees as possible should be planted.
