A political controversy has erupted in Punjab over an alleged incident of arson. Congress leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira has alleged that Manjinder Lalpura’s brother-in-law—the village Sarpanch, Gora—set fire to the home of Labh Singh, a member of the Scheduled Caste community, in the village of Wainpuin.
Sharing a post regarding the incident, Khaira wrote:
In his post, Khaira stated, “We urge @INCIndia and request @BhagwantMann and @DGPPunjabPolice to take immediate and strict criminal action against the ‘goons’ allegedly sponsored by @AAPPunjab.”
Congress’s Allegations
The Congress party alleges that such incidents raise serious questions regarding the state of law and order, and demands that strict action be taken against the perpetrators. Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party has not yet issued any official response regarding this matter.
