Significant news has emerged for those who share posts on social media. The Dinanagar police have registered a case against an individual residing in Pandit Gali, Dinanagar, on charges of posting objectionable content on social media, and have subsequently arrested him. Providing details regarding the matter, Amritpal Singh, Chief of the Dinanagar Police Station, stated that the police took cognizance of a complaint filed by Honey Mahajan—the Dhariwal-based Chief of Shiv Sena Punjab (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction).
The complaint alleges that Pandit Chandan posted an objectionable image related to Lord Shiva on his social media account, thereby hurting the religious sentiments of the Hindu community. Considering the gravity of the matter, and following a thorough investigation, the police registered a case under Section 299 of the Indian Penal Code and arrested the accused. Police officials stated that the investigation is ongoing and further action will be taken in accordance with the law. They also appealed to the public to use social media responsibly and to refrain from sharing content that could hurt religious sentiments.
