A major tragedy occurred in Fatehgarh Sahib when a bus carrying devotees returning from a pilgrimage to Sri Anandpur Sahib overturned. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his condolences regarding the horrific accident that took place in the Fatehgarh Sahib district of Punjab. The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) shared a post on ‘X’ expressing grief over the incident, stating: “Deeply saddened to learn about the accident that occurred in the Fatehgarh Sahib district of Punjab. I express my condolences to those who have lost their family members. I also pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.”

Notably, a bus carrying pilgrims back from Anandpur Sahib overturned in Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab, resulting in the deaths of six pilgrims on board and injuries to 21 others. Reports indicate that there were between 35 and 40 devotees on the bus at the time of the accident. The devotees traveling in the bus were residents of Main Majari in Fatehgarh Sahib and were returning after paying obeisance at Anandpur Sahib in the Rupnagar district on the occasion of Baisakhi. Upon hearing the sound of a loud crash, residents from nearby villages rushed to the scene and, with great difficulty, managed to extricate the devotees from the bus.
