Criminals in the city have become so emboldened that stepping out onto the streets has become an ordeal for passersby. The latest incident occurred near a liquor shop situated close to Aarti Chowk, where two friends riding a motorcycle were surrounded by a group of half a dozen robbers. The miscreants not only physically assaulted the victims but also, under the threat of death, snatched their mobile phones, cash, silver rings, and their motorcycle before fleeing the scene. In connection with this case, the Focal Point Police Station has registered a First Information Report (FIR) against half a dozen unidentified individuals based on the complaint filed by Chetan Giri.
**5-6 Unidentified Assailants Perpetrate the Crime**
The complainant informed the police that the incident took place on the night of April 16, around 8:30 PM. He was riding a motorcycle with his companion, Vijay (son of Krishna Dutt), traveling from S.S. Kanda towards Transport Nagar. As they approached the liquor shop near Aarti Chowk, their path was blocked by 5-6 unidentified assailants arriving on two motorcycles. Upon arrival, and with the intent to instill terror, the miscreants struck the complainant’s helmet with a deadly weapon. The attack was so sudden that neither of the friends had a chance to react or defend themselves. The robbers intimidated and threatened them at gunpoint, warning that they would be killed if they raised an alarm.
**Police Scrutinizing CCTV Footage**
Operating under the cover of intimidation, the robbers snatched the complainant’s valuable mobile phone (an S-24 model) and his wallet, which contained 200–300 rupees in cash along with important documents. Meanwhile, they robbed his companion, Vijay, of his Samsung A-15 mobile phone, two silver rings, and 200 rupees in cash. Still not satisfied, the miscreants proceeded to snatch their motorcycle as well before making a hasty escape towards Jamalpur. Upon receiving information about the incident, the local police sprang into action and have begun scouring CCTV footage of the area in search of the accused. The police state that, given the manner in which the crime was executed, the involvement of a professional gang is suspected. A case has been registered against unidentified assailants, and the police claim they will apprehend the accused shortly.
