Panic gripped the entire area on Tuesday morning following the discovery of a mysterious drone at the Dhaula plant of the Trident Group—a prominent industrial establishment in the district. Occurring around 5:30 AM, the incident not only put the plant management on high alert but also prompted immediate action from the district police. The incident is being viewed as particularly sensitive given that, just two days prior, Trident Group founder and Padma Shri recipient Rajinder Gupta had left the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

According to reports, around 5:30 AM on Tuesday, employees at the Trident Group’s Dhaula plant were performing their routine duties in the Wood Fiber Line section of the Paper Division. Sensing the gravity of the situation, the employees immediately alerted their shift in-charge.

Without delay, the shift in-charge informed the plant’s Administrative Head, Rupinder Gupta, about the incident. Rupinder Gupta rushed to the scene and, after assessing the situation, relayed all relevant information to the District Police Chief, Mohammad Sarfaraz Alam. Taking the matter with extreme seriousness, the Police Chief immediately dispatched DSP Tapa, Jaskaran Singh, and the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Rureke police station, Balwinder Singh, to the site. The security arrangements at the plant were also subjected to a thorough review. Suspected to be a Chinese-made drone, it will be sent to a forensic laboratory.
Speaking to the media, District Police Chief Mohammad Sarfraz Alam stated that, at first glance, the drone appears to be of Chinese manufacture. He noted that such basic drones are typically readily available on online platforms like Amazon for a price ranging between ₹2,000 and ₹3,000. However, he clarified that the police are treating this matter with the utmost seriousness and vigilance. He further informed that the drone would be sent to a specialized drone forensic laboratory for a detailed technical examination. The forensic analysis will help determine whether the drone was equipped with a camera or any other surveillance devices, and for what specific purpose it was being flown.
