Former Indian off-spinner and current Rajya Sabha MP, Harbhajan Singh, had leveled serious allegations against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He claimed that a Rajya Sabha seat from Punjab had been sold. A day after these allegations were made, the AAP hit back on Saturday, accusing him of acting according to a script written by the BJP.
‘He Has Become the BJP’s Parrot’: Harpal Cheema
In a statement given to the news agency ANI, Punjab Minister Harpal Cheema said, “Why did he remain silent for four years? Did he only remember this today—after joining the BJP? Now, he has become the BJP’s parrot, and he will speak exactly as they dictate.” The Finance Minister added that he (Harbhajan Singh) would present a fabricated narrative concocted by the BJP. “He is working for the BJP to defame the AAP. He is a BJP spokesperson, and now he will spread such baseless and fabricated stories.”
Congress Demands Answers from AAP and BJP
Meanwhile, the Congress party has also jumped into this entire controversy. Leader of the Opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa took to ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) to post: “Now the truth is out. Harbhajan Singh has openly admitted that a monetary transaction took place. The question is simple: Who gave money to whom, and how much?”
“The Central Vigilance Commission must immediately seek an explanation from Harbhajan Singh and investigate the entire nexus. Punjab deserves transparency, not backroom deals and political horse-trading. Following such serious revelations, neither the BJP nor the AAP can evade their accountability.”
