In a significant move, the police have arrested three accused individuals in connection with the murder of Rahul, a young man from Mand Baupur village under the Sultanpur Lodhi sub-division. Meanwhile, following a search operation lasting approximately 12 hours—conducted by villagers using boats—Rahul’s body was recovered from the Beas River near Karmuwala Pattan.
According to reports, Rahul was returning home from work in Sultanpur Lodhi late at night but never arrived. His family searched for him throughout the night but found no trace. The next morning, his motorcycle was found abandoned near the Beas River bridge on the road to Baupur, heightening the anxiety of his family and fellow villagers.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the Kabirpur police station initiated an investigation. During the probe, CCTV footage from cameras along the route between Sultanpur Lodhi and Baupur was scrutinized. The police uncovered crucial leads that helped advance the investigation. Simultaneously, family members and villagers launched their own search operation in the Beas River. A continuous search lasting about 12 hours was carried out using boats. After strenuous effort, Rahul’s body was recovered from the river near Karmuwala Pattan. A wave of grief swept through the entire area upon the discovery of the body.
Sultanpur Lodhi DSP Dhirendra Verma stated that vital facts regarding the murder have emerged during the police investigation. Based on these findings, a case has been registered at the Kabirpur police station under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Acting swiftly, the police arrested three accused persons. Police officials stated that interrogation of the accused is ongoing, and all aspects of the case are being thoroughly investigated. Meanwhile, the deceased’s family has demanded the strictest possible action against the perpetrators. Rahul’s death has brought a mountain of grief upon his family, while an atmosphere of mourning prevails in the village of Mand Baupur and the surrounding areas. The police state that further facts related to the case will be revealed once the investigation is complete.
