Financial Dispute Turns Fatal: Youth Murdered with Sharp-Edged Weapons Near Amritsar Railway Station

Date:

Panic gripped the area near the railway station—one of Amritsar’s busiest zones—early Monday morning when a dispute between a group of youths escalated into a bloody clash. Within moments, a young man was attacked with sharp-edged weapons. Although the critically injured youth was rushed to the hospital, doctors were unable to save him.

The incident caused a stir in the area, and the police immediately launched an investigation. The deceased has been identified as 27-year-old Amardeep Singh, alias Gyani, a resident of Jagdamba Colony, Majitha Road. According to reports, an altercation broke out between some youths opposite the railway station around 4:00 AM on Monday. Eyewitnesses stated that the dispute suddenly intensified; about six youths surrounded Amardeep Singh and attacked him with sharp-edged weapons.

Bystanders Rushed the Injured Youth to Hospital
Following the altercation, the youth collapsed on the road, bleeding profusely. Bystanders immediately attempted to rush him to the hospital, but doctors declared him dead upon examination. News of his death sent a wave of grief through his family and acquaintances. Upon receiving information about the incident, Civil Lines Station House Officer (SHO) Gurpreet Singh arrived at the scene with a police team. The police inspected the site and began examining footage from nearby CCTV cameras. Evidence recovered from the scene has been seized, and the investigation is proceeding.

Police Arrest the Accused
Preliminary investigations revealed a long-standing dispute over a financial matter between the deceased and the accused. Police suspect that this dispute was the motive behind the attack. However, investigating officers are examining all aspects of the case.

SHO Gurpreet Singh stated that a prime suspect has been arrested. He is currently being interrogated to clarify the identities and roles of others involved in the incident. Multiple police teams are conducting continuous raids to apprehend the remaining absconding suspects.
