A tragic road accident occurred on Sunday near Gate No. 1 of the Ambuja Cement Factory on the Bathinda-Malout Road. An unidentified vehicle struck a young motorcyclist with great force, leaving him critically injured. The driver fled the scene immediately after the collision. Passersby initiated rescue efforts and alerted the police.
Upon receiving the information, Sandeep Gill and Jaskaran Mokha from the ‘Sahara Jan Seva’ team arrived at the site, accompanied by ASI Parminder Singh and his team from the Road Safety Force. The Sahara team rushed the injured youth to the emergency ward of the Civil Hospital via ambulance, where doctors began treatment. Victim in critical condition; referred to AIIMS.
The injured youth has been identified as Inderpreet Singh, son of Harjinder Singh, a resident of Naiyawala village. Doctors described his condition as critical during initial treatment at the hospital; he sustained severe injuries to his head and other parts of his body. Due to his precarious condition, he was referred to AIIMS Bathinda for advanced medical care. Driver fled the scene.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident happened suddenly. A speeding vehicle hit the motorcycle, and the driver fled without stopping. Bystanders attended to the injured youth and immediately called for help. Locals state that the road sees heavy vehicular traffic, creating a constant risk of accidents.
