A birthday party in the Patti area of Tarn Taran district turned into a scene of panic when a dispute between two groups allegedly escalated into rapid gunfire. According to the police, a total of eight rounds were fired by both sides over a span of about five minutes. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident.
Police recovered two empty shells and one live cartridge from the scene and registered a case against approximately 15 individuals, including two named suspects and 12 unidentified persons. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Patti subdivision, Ravisher Singh, stated that the incident occurred at an eatery near Lahore Chowk, where a birthday party was being held for Dimpaljit Singh, a resident of Asal Chowk, Patti.
Music and dancing were underway at the party when a dispute arose between the groups led by Pravesh Kumar (alias Peshi) and Sajan Kumar.
**Gunfire Exchanged by Both Groups**
According to the police, the dispute escalated quickly, leading both sides to allegedly open fire at each other. The gunfire caused chaos, and those present scrambled to save their lives. Fortunately, no one was hit by a bullet, and a major tragedy was averted. Police stated that they received information about the incident via mobile phone around 11:45 PM. A police patrol team was already deployed in the area at the time. Upon receiving the information, the police arrived at the scene, but everyone involved had already fled. During the investigation, two empty shells and one live cartridge were recovered from the site.
**Police Investigation Begins**
Later, the restaurant owner, Lavpreet Singh, provided details of the entire incident in a statement to the police. Based on his statement, the police registered a case under various sections against Sajan Kumar, his brother Rajiv Kumar, Pravesh Kumar (alias Peshi), and 12 of their unidentified associates. The police state that raids are being conducted to arrest the accused. Additionally, footage from surveillance cameras at the scene and in the surrounding areas is being examined to clarify the details of the shooting incident and the roles of all those involved.
