An elderly couple died in a tragic road accident while returning after paying obeisance at Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib. The deceased have been identified as Dharamveer Singh (70) and his wife Shashi Bala (69), residents of Sector 41-B, Chandigarh.
According to reports, Dharamveer Singh and his wife Shashi Bala had visited Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib on a scooter to offer prayers. The accident occurred near Alampur village on the Sirhind-Morinda road while they were returning to Chandigarh after their visit. A speeding, out-of-control truck struck their scooter head-on with great force. The impact was so severe that the couple died instantly at the scene. Passersby and locals immediately informed the police, and a team from the Bassi Pathana police station arrived at the location. Providing details on the incident, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Harpinder Singh of Bassi Pathana police station stated that the police took immediate action upon receiving the report. The police team has impounded the truck involved in the accident.
Police Initiate Investigation
A case has been registered against the accused truck driver, identified as Daljit Singh, and further legal proceedings have been initiated. The police have taken possession of the bodies and have commenced an investigation into the matter.
