Special Rituals in Kashi for the Peace of Souls Lost in Nepal’s Devastating Floods and the Safe Return of Tourists
A one-day ritual was organized at the International Society for Kali Awareness ashram in Sudamapur, Kashi. The ceremony commenced with the chanting of Vedic mantras. During the event, Brahmins were seen holding posters and praying for the safety and peace of those affected by the disaster in Nepal.

Prayers were offered for peace to the souls of those who lost their lives in the Nepal floods, for the speedy recovery of the injured and unwell, and for strength to the families who lost their loved ones during this difficult time. The Brahmins stated that this peace prayer and ritual was being conducted from Kashi—the city of Baba Vishwanath—for Nepal, the abode of Lord Pashupatinath. A message of spiritual solidarity with the people of Nepal during this hour of crisis was also conveyed, reflecting the deep religious and cultural ties between India and Nepal. Special prayers were also offered for the safe return of Indian tourists stranded in Nepal and Kathmandu. The Brahmins invoked Goddess Kali, Baba Vishwanath, Mother Ganga, and Sankat Mochan Maharaj, praying for the safe return of all Indians to their homeland.

Pandit Harendra Upadhyay explained that special prayers were held at the ashram for those affected by the devastating floods in Nepal. He mentioned that prayers were offered for the peace of the deceased’s souls, the quick recovery of the sick, and for strength to be granted to those who had lost family members during this time of grief.

He added that special prayers were also addressed to Goddess Shyama Kali, Baba Vishwanath, and Sankat Mochan Maharaj for the swift and safe return of Indian tourists stranded in Nepal. This ritual not only demonstrated sensitivity towards the disaster in Nepal but also highlighted the profound religious and cultural bonds shared between India and Nepal.
