Panic gripped the town of Fatehgarh Churian when two unidentified bike-borne assailants opened fire on a man. Amarjit Singh, who sustained a gunshot injury, was initially taken to the local government hospital in critical condition; after receiving first aid, he was referred to Amritsar.
According to reports, Amarjit Singh is the uncle of Ranjeet Singh, a Congress councilor from Ward No. 5. He was traveling from Station Road towards Ajnala Road when two youths on a motorcycle intercepted him and allegedly opened fire. One bullet struck him in the shoulder, leaving him seriously injured.
Upon receiving information about the incident, DSP Lalit Kumar and Station House Officer (SHO) Gurinder Singh Dhillon arrived at the scene with a police team and initiated an investigation. The police are questioning locals and making efforts to identify the attackers. Municipal Council President Kulvinder Singh Lali and the injured man’s nephew, Gurpreet Singh, stated that Amarjit Singh was on his way to attend to some work when the bike-borne assailants stopped him and opened fire. DSP Lalit Kumar stated that the police are investigating every aspect of the case and that the accused will be identified and arrested soon.
