Panic gripped the Chandigarh Police on Monday after threats were received to blow up the Punjab and Haryana Civil Secretariat, the Punjab Chief Minister’s residence, and the Punjab Legislative Assembly using bombs. The police control room was informed of the bomb threat via email, prompting an immediate alert to security agencies.
Police teams rushed to the sites upon receiving the information. Teams from the bomb squad, operations cell, fire brigade, medical first response team (MFT), ambulance services, and civil defense also arrived at the locations. Security arrangements were tightened at all the concerned sites, and investigations were initiated.
**Information from control room; teams arrive promptly**
According to the police, the control room received information regarding the bomb threat. Relevant police officials were informed, and teams on the ground began security checks. The Sector-3 police station is also actively working on the case. Police are conducting a technical investigation to identify the sender and trace the source of the email.
**Multiple agencies, including the bomb squad, on alert**
Following the threat notification, the bomb squad began inspecting the concerned locations. The fire brigade and ambulances were kept on standby at the sites to handle any potential emergency immediately. The Station House Officer (SHO) of Sector-3 was also present at the scene.
Currently, the police are investigating all aspects of the threat. Whether the threat is genuine or if the email was sent with the intent to spread panic will become clear only after the investigation is concluded.
