Many shops in Jalandhar to remain closed on September 15; orders issued regarding hotels and dhabas

Important news has emerged for the residents of Jalandhar. In observance of the ‘Samvatsari Mahaparv’ festival, the sale of meat and fish will be prohibited in Jalandhar on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. Additional District Magistrate Amninder Kaur has issued orders to this effect under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023.

According to the issued orders, it will be mandatory to keep meat and fish shops as well as slaughterhouses closed in the district on September 15. Furthermore, there will be a complete ban on serving meat or any form of non-vegetarian food in hotels, dhabas, and designated eating areas (ahatas). The administration has directed the concerned shopkeepers and establishment owners to ensure compliance with these orders.
