The syndicate of jailed Indian gangster Lawrence Bishnoi has claimed—regarding its grip and influence in Canada—that it directly challenges the local police, military, and defense establishment.
An alleged letter surfacing from Abbotsford, Canada, claims that the gang has over 5,000 active members in the country who are willing to shoot anyone for money.
The letter warns the police that any interference in the gang’s activities could result in gunfire at police stations.
Letter reads: ‘Jai Shri Ram to all of Canada’
The letter begins with the salutation “Jai Shri Ram to all of Canada.” It mentions the Lawrence gang and Goldy Brar while conveying a message to their associates present in Canada.
The alleged letter states that nothing can stop the gang from ruling Canada. It also issues a challenge to other criminal groups active there, including the Hells Angels.
Claim of shooting for $1,000
The alleged letter claims the gang has more than 5,000 members in Canada. A large number of them are reportedly ready to shoot anyone for a mere $1,000. Law enforcement agencies are directly warned to stay away from the gang’s activities; otherwise, news of a shooting at a police station could follow the next day. The letter further claims that the gang possesses more weaponry than the Canadian police.
The letter also makes racist remarks against white people living in Canada and threatens them to leave the country. Additionally, it targets the business community, stating that ‘protection money’ will be extorted from every businessman. It clarifies that payment is mandatory regardless of whether the business owner is Indian, white, or Black. Canadian Agencies Share Information
Lawrence Bishnoi has been incarcerated in an Indian prison since 2015. Despite this, security agencies have long been investigating the overseas networks operated by his syndicate.
Abbotsford Police have reportedly confirmed the receipt of a letter linked to the Lawrence gang. Information regarding this has also been shared with other law enforcement agencies investigating extortion cases.
The role of the Lawrence-Goldy network has been under investigation in connection with incidents of gunfire and arson targeting establishments owned by businesspeople of Indian origin, members of the South Asian community, and other influential figures across various parts of Canada.
Allegations regarding the involvement of individuals linked to this network also surfaced in cases involving shootings at an Indian restaurant in Surrey and comedian Kapil Sharma’s ‘Caps Cafe’.
Lawrence Imprisoned; Network Spans Abroad
Police records list Satvinder Singh, alias Lawrence Bishnoi, as a resident of Datranwali village in Fazilka district. A report by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) cites 84 FIRs registered against him, with convictions secured in four cases. After his first FIR was registered in 2011-12, he was imprisoned for the first time in 2014.
In 2021, charges under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) were invoked against him, and he was transferred to Tihar Jail. He is currently lodged in Sabarmati Jail, Ahmedabad.
His syndicate’s name has surfaced in connection with high-profile cases such as the murders of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, and former minister Baba Siddique, as well as threats against actor Salman Khan and the conspiracy to open fire at the actor’s residence.
Extortion and Shooting Network in Canada
Since 2025, individuals linked to the Lawrence-Goldy network have been implicated in numerous incidents of gunfire, arson, and extortion across Canada. According to investigative agencies, incidents targeting businesspeople and wealthy individuals of South Asian descent for extortion have been reported in Surrey, Edmonton, Calgary, and Ontario. In some instances, homes were fired upon or attacked with petrol bombs when demands for money were not met.
Canadian investigations have also identified young individuals accused of involvement in arson, shootings, and extortion at the behest of gangs.
Videos and photographs showing weapons, posted on social media, have also become part of the investigation. Agencies view these incidents as the result of a network connecting gang operators based abroad with local shooters.
