Faridkot Police have registered a case against three individuals in connection with an international arms smuggling racket.
The police recovered 10 pistols from the possession of the accused. Preliminary investigations revealed that the consignment of weapons was allegedly smuggled from across the border using drones.
According to reports, a Faridkot Police team was conducting patrols and checking for suspicious persons when they received a tip-off from a reliable source about an international gang smuggling weapons from a neighboring country via drones.
The police received information that three individuals were roaming on foot near the Modern Central Jail, Faridkot, carrying a large quantity of weapons. These individuals allegedly intended to use the weapons to commit a crime or supply them further. Acting on this information, the police apprehended the accused and recovered 10 pistols from them. Subsequently, a case was registered under relevant sections at the City Police Station, Faridkot, and further legal proceedings have been initiated.
The accused have been identified as Rajbir Singh (alias Amit), son of Bhupendra Singh; Amar Singh (alias Amar), son of Amrik Singh; and Deep Singh (alias Deepak)—all residents of Sri Amritsar Sahib.
The police are now interrogating the accused to gather information regarding the source of the weapons, the methods used to smuggle them across the border, and other individuals linked to the network. Efforts are also underway to determine the intended destination for the recovered weapons and to identify other members of the gang.
