A special court in Bengaluru on Monday remanded suspended IAS officer Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar to Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody until September 26 in connection with a money laundering case involving irregularities in the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) Veterinary Officer recruitment.
The suspended IAS officer was produced before the court from Parappana Agrahara Central Jail, where he had been lodged in judicial custody.
**CM Hints at Shutting Down the Commission**
Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar stated on Tuesday that the state government is exploring the legal feasibility of shutting down the KPSC following large-scale irregularities. He also questioned the High Court’s authority to select specific officers for the Special Investigation Team (SIT).
It is alleged that Gangwar and Basavaraj Kannale, a member of the Tumkur University Syndicate, conspired to leak question papers and accept bribes from candidates.
The ED informed the court that custodial interrogation of Gangwar is essential to trace the proceeds of the crime and gather further details regarding the money laundering case.
