Police have arrested Manzoor Khalifa, the alleged kingpin behind a human trafficking and sex trafficking racket, in Begusarai.
The Superintendent of Police (SP) disclosed this information during a press conference held at his office on Thursday. Khalifa, a resident of Boha Tola (Ward No. 09) in the city, faces ten registered cases in Sitamarhi alone.
**Criminal History Across Multiple Districts**
The SP stated that Khalifa also has a criminal record in Kishanganj and neighboring districts. He is accused of using his network to lure girls from various states across the country—under false pretenses—and forcing them into the sex trade in Sitamarhi, Kishanganj, and other districts. Raids are currently underway to identify and arrest other individuals linked to this network.
**Property Attachment Process**
The SP mentioned that the process for property attachment is being carried out under Section 107 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023.
A special team was constituted based on inputs received from the ATS and the Weaker Sections Division of the Police Headquarters in Patna. The team was led by the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic).
**Arrest Made in Begusarai**
On Wednesday, the special team arrested Manzoor Khalifa from Salouna, Nadaul, within the Bakhri police station area of Begusarai district. Police have been interrogating him continuously since the arrest. Simultaneously, efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend other associates connected to the network.
