In anticipation of the upcoming winter schedule and the festive season, several new flights will be introduced at Varanasi’s Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport. Under this new arrangement, direct flights to Bagdogra in the Northeast will resume after nearly 16 years, with IndiGo Airlines preparing to launch services on this route.
Although the final schedule is yet to be released, direct flights to Guwahati are also likely to commence. Plans include the return of SpiceJet alongside IndiGo and other airlines. IndiGo and other major carriers are taking special initiatives to enhance passenger convenience and connectivity in the winter schedule. IndiGo will strengthen connectivity to the Northeast by launching direct flights to both Bagdogra and Guwahati. Service to Khajuraho: Recognizing its tourism and religious significance, IndiGo will also launch direct flights to Khajuraho. Air India will simultaneously launch direct flights to Khajuraho; the airline has already released its schedule, and ticket bookings have commenced. Additionally, Air India will introduce another flight to Delhi. Akasa Air will increase the frequency of its flights between Mumbai and Bengaluru for the festive season. Air India Express is also fully prepared to launch direct flight services to several new cities in the coming days.
SpiceJet’s Return and Relief Regarding the Employment Crisis
A major employment crisis had arisen for over a hundred employees after SpiceJet suspended all its flights from Varanasi during the summer schedule. However, there is welcome news: SpiceJet is preparing to resume its flights as part of the winter schedule.
Rajesh Singh, SpiceJet’s local manager, stated that flights from Varanasi Airport which had previously been suspended are highly likely to resume during the winter season. Although the official schedule has not yet been received, operations are expected to restart for four to five major cities, notably Ahmedabad, Pune, Mumbai, and Delhi.
Airport Administration Preparations and New Terminal
Airport Director Puneet Gupta stated that the number of flights operating from Varanasi Airport will increase during the winter season. Additionally, flight operations will commence from the newly constructed terminal building to provide passengers with modern and improved facilities. Following the receipt of government guidelines, the airport administration has accelerated its preparations.
