In a significant move regarding the administrative structure of Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh, the government has issued an official notification designating Paragpur as a new sub-division. This administrative reorganization will provide major relief to the large local population, sparing them the need to travel to distant offices for routine administrative and revenue-related tasks.
The government had recently decided to appoint a Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) for the area, following which the General Administration Department issued the notification for the sub-division’s formation. The headquarters of this new sub-division will be located in Paragpur itself.
**46 Patwar Circles Brought Under Administrative Jurisdiction**
To form this new sub-division, a total of 46 Patwar circles from four major tehsils—previously under the jurisdiction of the Dehra sub-division—have been carved out and placed under this new administrative ambit. The state government undertook this major administrative reorganization in the public interest, acting under the provisions of the Himachal Pradesh Land Revenue Act 1954, the Registration Act 1908, and the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023.
The government has also released a list of the tehsils and their respective Patwar circles included under the new Paragpur sub-division.
**Nishant Kumar Assumes Charge as SDM**
Himcofed Chairman Vikram Sharma (alias Dikki) stated that the government has granted sub-division status to Paragpur and appointed an SDM there. The notification regarding the Patwar circles has been issued. Nishant Kumar, an officer of the 2020 batch, assumed charge as the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Paragpur on Sunday. The reorganization of Patwar circles across four tehsils was carried out as follows:
Rakkar Tehsil: A total of 13 Patwar circles from this tehsil area have been added to the new subdivision. These include the Rakkar, Chaplah, Bharoli Jadid, Kudna, Saleti, Kharoti, Kaloha, Kaulapur, Chauli, Kuhna, Nihari, Shantla, and Aloh Patwar circles.
Jaswan Tehsil: Ten major Patwar circles from this area have been made part of the Paragpur subdivision. These include the Swana, Nyad, Paplothar, Kahanpur, Kotla, Amroh, Jandaur, Badi, Ghati, and Malot Patwar circles.
Dadasiba Tehsil: Eleven Patwar circles from this tehsil have been included in the new administrative zone. Under this arrangement, Kasba Siba, Lag, Panjal, Jakhdhar, Vaih, Shamnagar, Dodra, Jambal, Chanaur, and their associated areas will function under the jurisdiction of Paragpur.
Paragpur Tehsil: The administrative scope of the new subdivision has been finalized by combining a total of 12 Patwar circles. Key circles included are Garh, Waliyana, Chalali, Samnoli, Kadoa, Nalsuha, Chamba, Bani, Sehri, Garli, and Nahan Nagrota. With the implementation of this system, direct administrative and revenue control over all these areas will now rest with the Paragpur subdivision office, ensuring that local residents receive prompt and accessible government services.
