The issue of water scarcity in the NIT assembly constituency was raised before Union Minister Krishan Pal Gurjar during the DISHA meeting. NIT MLA Satish Phagna accused officials of discriminating against his constituency, noting that residents are receiving water only once every seven days.
He stated that people are distressed due to the water situation, yet neither are booster stations being constructed in the area, nor is the pending work on the water supply pipeline being completed.
Responding to the MLA’s complaint, the Union Minister reprimanded the officials and directed them to expedite the completion of the water pipeline project bringing water from the Yamuna to NIT. Information regarding the plan to supply water directly from Manjhawali to NIT and Badkhal by June 2027 was also shared during the meeting.
Water supply every seven days; residents face increased hardship
MLA Satish Phagna prominently raised the water crisis in NIT during the DISHA meeting held at the Mini-Secretariat in Sector-12. He pointed out that residents of his constituency are receiving water only once every seven days. The MLA alleged that Faridabad authority officials are consistently discriminating against his constituency. He noted that despite the water crisis, no new booster stations are being built in the area, and work on the water pipeline remains incomplete.
Directive to expedite Yamuna pipeline work
After the issue was brought to light, the Union Minister reprimanded the officials. He instructed them to accelerate the completion of the water pipeline bringing water from the Yamuna to NIT.
The Union Minister told the officials that the true gravity of the problem would only be realized when people are left without water. Emphasis was placed on the early completion of the water supply project during the meeting. Plan to Supply Water Directly by June 2027
It was stated during the meeting that there is a plan to supply water directly from Manjhawali to NIT and Badkhal by June 2027. Approximately ₹250 crore will be spent on this project.
The objective of the plan is to ensure a direct water supply from Manjhawali to NIT and Badkhal. Currently, the MLA’s grievances have centered on the long intervals between water supply rounds in NIT and the lack of adequate infrastructure.
Reprimand Over Roads in Previous Meeting
In the previous DISHA meeting as well, the Union Minister had expressed displeasure to officials regarding road-related issues. In this meeting, officials were questioned about the water supply problem in NIT and directed to expedite the work.
