Father and son were manufacturing weapons at home by following YouTube tutorials; Motihari police arrested them along with country-made firearms and cartridges.

Following the arrest of a father and son who were manufacturing illegal weapons at their home in Gandak Colony—located within the jurisdiction of the Raghunathpur police station—authorities have uncovered a new network involved in the illegal arms trade.

During a raid on a newly constructed house, the police seized two country-made firearms (pistols), three semi-finished pistols, a weapon-in-progress resembling a carbine, five live cartridges, and various tools used for manufacturing weapons. Harendra Sharma and his son, Prince Kumar, were arrested at the scene.

During interrogation, Prince Kumar revealed that he had learned how to manufacture lethal weapons by watching YouTube tutorials. He was preparing to sell the weapons he produced when he and his father were apprehended. The police have initiated further investigations to identify other individuals linked to this illegal arms network, which extends from Raghunathpur to other parts of the district. The story of the father and son came to light after a video circulated on social media.

According to police sources, the case surfaced after a video began circulating on social media. On October 25, Ranjeet Kumar, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Turkauliya, came across the footage. The video showed an individual performing a ritual with a weapon during the Vishwakarma Puja festival. Following an investigation, the person was identified as Harendra Sharma, a resident of Jaysinghpur Gharbari Tola, under the Turkauliya police station area. The investigation eventually led the police to a new house owned by Sharma in Gandak Colony, Raghunathpur. During the search, in addition to the weapons, authorities recovered a knife, two hammers with wooden handles, a large pair of pliers, an iron-cutting machine, and four mobile phones. Further investigation based on findings from mobile phones and interrogations
According to the police, during interrogation, Harendra Sharma revealed that he learned how to manufacture weapons by watching videos on YouTube, along with disclosing several other details. Based on the information provided by him and evidence retrieved from a mobile phone seized at his location, the police are now working to determine how long this illegal arms trade had been in operation and to whom the manufactured weapons were being supplied.
