Political activities in Punjab are gaining momentum ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections. The Congress party has intensified its preparations, with senior leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, scheduled to address a major public rally in Sangrur on November 4. The rally, named ‘Insaaf Rally’, is expected to mark the formal beginning of the Congress party’s election campaign in Punjab.
Punjab Congress President Pargat Singh has confirmed Rahul Gandhi’s visit and said the event will give fresh direction and momentum to the party’s preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections. The party is focusing on strengthening its organisation, mobilising workers and reaching out to people across the state.
According to Congress leaders, the rally will focus on several key issues concerning Punjab, including law and order, drug trafficking, farmers’ concerns, unemployment and the demand for justice. The party is expected to raise questions about the functioning of the Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party government.
Senior Congress leader Vijay Inder Singla has also been involved in preparations for the rally. The proposed venue is in Phaguwala village near Sangrur, where arrangements are being made for a large gathering. The Congress is also focusing on mobilising workers from around 40 Assembly constituencies across the Sangrur, Fatehgarh Sahib, Bathinda, Faridkot and Ludhiana parliamentary regions.
The rally is particularly significant because Sangrur is the home district of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and an important political centre in the Malwa region. Congress leaders believe that beginning their election campaign from this region will help strengthen their political outreach ahead of the 2027 polls.
The party’s central leadership has also been holding meetings with Punjab Congress leaders to review preparations and discuss the election strategy. Congress general secretary KC Venugopal and party in-charge Sachin Pilot have been involved in coordinating organisational activities. The leadership has also emphasised presenting a united front during the upcoming elections.
Punjab Congress President Pargat Singh recently visited Sangrur to inspect the rally venue and review arrangements. He also held meetings with senior leaders and party workers to ensure coordination and participation from different Assembly constituencies.
The November 4 rally is expected to be an important political event for the Congress as it prepares to challenge the ruling AAP in the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections. Rahul Gandhi’s address will be closely watched for the party’s political messaging, its criticism of the state government and its roadmap for Punjab.
With the election campaign preparations gaining pace, all eyes are now on Sangrur and Rahul Gandhi’s upcoming ‘Insaaf Rally’.
