Nominations are being filed again today for the Mayor election in Chandigarh. BJP and Congress have declared their candidates. Aam Aadmi Party has also declared Premlata as its candidate today. The nomination process will continue till 5 pm.
BJP had announced councillor Harpreet Kaur for the post of Mayor, Lakhvir Singh for Deputy Mayor and Vimla Dubey for Senior Deputy Mayor. Whereas Aam Aadmi Party and Congress have an alliance, in which Congress had announced the name of Taruna Mehta for Deputy Mayor and Jasbir Singh Bunty for Senior Deputy Mayor and they had also filed their nomination earlier. Who will file nomination again today.
Mayor election will be held on 30 January
Mayor elections are to be held on 30 January. Earlier this election was to be held on 24 January, for which nomination was on 20 January. BJP and Congress had also filed nomination, but in the meantime the High Court had extended the date of election. Due to this, nominations are being filed again on Saturday.
Alliance of Congress and Aam Aadmi Party
There is an alliance of Congress and Aam Aadmi Party. Therefore, Aam Aadmi Party has also declared Premlata as its candidate for the post of Mayor. All three parties will arrive to file nominations by around 2 pm today.
