Congress and AAP are in alliance for the Chandigarh Mayor election. The candidate for the post of Mayor has been announced by AAP.
Nominations are being filed today for the election of Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Chandigarh. Aam Aadmi Party has declared councilor Premlata as its candidate for the post of Mayor. However, resentment is being seen among some Congress councilors over Premlata being declared as the candidate. No one is ready to speak openly right now, but sources say that when Premlata’s name was announced during the meeting held at Punjab Bhawan, a Congress councilor and a councilor of Aam Aadmi Party showed their resentment.
Nominations will be filed for the post of Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor by Congress. At the same time, BJP candidates can reach to file nominations at 2 pm. All the declared candidates are reaching to file nominations.
BJP and Congress have also announced their candidates. Councilor Harpreet Kaur Babla will be the candidate for the post of Mayor from BJP. Vimla Dubey will be the candidate for Senior Deputy Mayor and Lakhbir Singh for the post of Deputy Mayor. Congress has also announced its candidates. Jasbir Singh Bunty will be the candidate for the post of Senior Deputy Mayor and Taruna Mehta will be the candidate for the post of Deputy Mayor. However, Aam Aadmi Party has not announced its mayor candidate yet. Party leaders say that they will announce the candidate at 1:30 pm during the filing of nominations.
